Cancellation Policy
For one-time jobs, my current cancellation policy is if I am given less than 48 hours' notice for a cancellation of a job, I require a 50% fee as a result of that.
Hourly Rate - How it Compares to Others
I charge based on a few things:
1) I have spent close to half of my life working in the childcare profession. This experience comes with certifications and education (first aid, CPR/AED, communicable disease training, child abuse prevention, continuing education courses and literature, etc.), thousands of hours working in the field (babysitting, volunteering, working at daycares, etc.), a significant amount of time curating age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate activities, as well as having a bachelor’s degree.
2) I charge based on the number of children I will be responsible of taking care of as well as their ages and how much or little supervision they need from me.
3) I charge additionally if I am asked to perform services other than childcare (ex: cleaning, pet care, etc.)
The average cost of a babysitter/nanny in Akron, OH just starting out is $13.56 an hour. The lowest amount per hour expected is $10.10 and the highest is $20. According to Indeed.com, the average cost of an experienced babysitter/nanny is $20.58/hour.
As I mentioned earlier, I have a lot of experience. According to Care.com, nannies with 7-10 years of experience (I have eleven years as of June 2024) should be making $2 more/hour than a nanny with 3-5 years of experience, and $4 more/hour then a nanny with less than two years of experience. As I stated earlier, the lowest rate in Akron for nannies/babysitters with limited experience is $10.10. That brings my average pay to $24.58/hour for ONE CHILD. I obviously do not charge this much as a minimum, but having the extra money is helpful, because I am planning on continuing my education in the field of child/family development and I do not take out loans, so the more I get paid, the more experience I will have!
